CMA 2014 Awards Recap!

We watched the CMA Awards show last night, did you? Overall, we weren’t that impressed with how the night went. For some reason everyone seemed a little off in their performance. Time for a new sound guy? So what were the best parts of the night in our opinion? Carrie and Brad as hosts. We loved hearing that she was having a boy. Carrie’s multiple outfit changes. Even while pregnant she managed to look classy and amazing! Thomas Rhett’s short performance that sounded the best out of everyone Luke Bryan winning his first CMA as Entertainer of the Year The touching tribute and award to Vince Gill The Doobie Brothers, who rocked the stage, even though Kasey Musgrave’s had the unimpressed grumpy cat face during their performance. (We wish we had a photo of this!) Brett Eldredge winning for new artist of the year And our least favorite parts? The opening number with Miranda Lambert and Meghan Trainor singing “All about that bass,” and including the lyrics about “skinny bitches.” We thought this was a country music awards show. With that being said, Ariana Grande with Little Big Town. Why is country music selling out? What purpose did either of these pop princesses serve on this show? We would have rather seen more of Thomas Rhett or any other talented country star, like maybe, Garth Brooks sing. Jason Aldean, who got shunned this year in all awards categories performance of “Burnin’ it down.” Even Blake Shelton looked uncomfortable during his duet with Ashley Monroe and sounded off. Garth Brooks wardrobe. It looked like he was wearing something a few sizes too big for him. He would look even more handsome in something fitted.  And speaking of wardrobe… Kasey Musgraves, Ariana Grande, Ashley Monroe, and model (why was she even there?) Lily Aldridge, who decided to wear skirts that left little to the imagination. Award shows, especially country music shows are supposed to be classy, where talent outweighs the “sex sells” rule. But the ladies weren’t the only offenders. For the men, like Cole Swindell (who we love) and Brantley Gilbert… ball caps with suits? How much do you pay your stylists? The only surprise of the night for us wardrobe wise is that when Florida Georgia Line accepted their award for Vocal Duo of the year, at least one of them finally wore a shirt with sleeves. All in all, we expected more this year from the CMA’s. We love country music, and send our congratulations out to all of the performers, nominees and winners from last night’s show.
