Sutherlin, Or – Braeden Counts has a voice you can’t ignore; a voice of persistence, of struggle and of hope. His new single Shot of You is out today, June 10, 2016. Braeden Counts, is a singer/songwriter and will be releasing his first EP in the fall of 2016. His single, Shot of You, is the first song that he has written.

This song was made in collaboration with All About Groove Entertainment and produced by Michael Harris and Kimberley Patterson, engineered by BluReel and mixed and mastered by Kent Shin at The Tower Studio in San Diego, California.

The groundbreaking country singer is a man of endless talent and passion. Born into a small town with not a lot of opportunities in the music scene, Braeden used his dedication and passion to turn his dreams into a reality. A self-taught musician, he studied some of his favorite artists while working and going to college full time, often practicing his guitar into the late hours of the night. Braeden has proved to be a country boy at heart who can seamlessly blend pop, traditional and new country into his music.

“Music is my way of telling my life’s stories,” said Braeden Counts. “It’s my way of letting you know exactly who I am, what I stand for, what I believe in, and so on. I’ve always been a little bit of an introvert, but with music I can be as open as I want to be. It’s let me come out of my shell and express myself not only as an artist, but as a human being. I hope my music and bring out the same feeling in others. That’s what it’s all about. Connecting with people and making them feel something real. And that’s what I want to do with my music.”

Braeden has been featured as a guest artist on Best Country 103 KRSB to perform his original single, “Angels in the sky,” which was written as a tribute to his college, Umpqua Community College, and the friends he lost in the shooting tragedy, in addition to a guest performance at the Umpqua Strong Music Festival. Today also marks the date that Braeden will graduate from UCC with his Fitness Technician Certification. He has played other local venues such as Brewstation, Black Forest, Melrose Grange, Movies in the Park at the Half Shell, and is always adding new venues. While recording his single at The Tower Studio in San Diego, California, Braeden also performed at The Tin Roof, and Lestats East. He is proudly sponsored by Coldcock Whiskey and managed by All About Groove Entertainment and has received accolades from several national country acts for his song covers on his YouTube channel.

While it’s true that his path has been one of hard work and determination, Braeden aims to show that believing in yourself and fulfilling your dreams are possible.

New Country Artist Spotlight – Sara Avalos

Sara Avalos, or “Little Bit” as her bandmates playfully refer to her by must only be about 5 feet tall, but her vocals are sky high.  She possesses a maturity to her tone that almost sounds a little like Bonnie Raitt, but unique at the same time. Her stage presence is bubby, her smile infectious, and the power behind her vocals substantial. There are so many artists out there who are great singers, but the ability to really feel the emotion or the words makes a big difference. Sara, has demonstrated her ability to do both.  So who is Sara Avalos?

We found some information on her Facebook page that gave us a better understanding of how she got in to music.

“It all started when I was 2 years old. I stayed with my Grandma a lot while my brother was in the hospital. She was a lead singer for The Sweet Addalines Texas Region for a long time. When I was 2 yrs. old my grandma would sing to me and I would sing the same note. When it came Christmas time in San Antonio where I was born, my family and I went to a mall for my cousin’s show. I ran up on stage and I grabbed the mic from the host and asked him to let me sing. I sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in the middle of the mall.

Then when I was about 6 I started acting in my church plays with my brother and having lead singing roles.

When I was about 9 I had recorded a demo and started touring Texas. It was a lot of fun!  I sang at so many Opry’s and events. In September of 2006, I went to Las Vegas for a competition.  My mom and I baked over 300 cakes and cookies to raise the money to get there. I was up against 3,000 kids and I lost by 1/2 a point! But that’s what got me here to Nashville and I’m very grateful for it.”

Sara has sang for Tootsies for two years, The World Famous Nashville Palace for four years and on Sunday nights with the Justin Myers band at The Second Fiddle.

Rory Gardiner releases new original country music children’s CD “Yee Haw”

Rory Gardiner isn’t just your typical good lookin’ country singer. No, he is a published author, successful country singer, reality tv star and has just released a children’s album with 12 new original country songs. Is there anything this guy can’t do?

But, who is Rory Gardiner? You might remember our feature, and reviews on both his CD’s and live show that we posted earlier in the year. We have been following his success on twitter and are eager to see this new-found attention he will garner from his newest venture.

Rory has been a song writer for as long as he can remember, but now calling it a career is something that he could only dream of.

He has seen the success of his compositions published and performed by other artists, as well as songs licensed and synched in TV advertisements airing daily throughout Canada and the United States.
Country music became a full-time commitment in 2007, after appearing on a CMT nationally broadcasted reality show with other singers from around the country. This spun into a guest appearance on the CMT the Top 20 countdown with Casey Clarke the following year.

In 2009 Rory released his debut full length country album titled “Break Free”, co-produced with JR Vautour in Nashville, TN. Three tracks were released nationally to country radio, and Rory hit the road on a national radio tour, opening for a number of great acts, including Doc Walkers and Aaron Pritchett. Later that year joining the roster playing the Ottawa Country Music Hall of Fame with Charlie Major.

In 2013 Rory released a new single “On My Way” to Country Radio, co-written with Canadian hit maker Tim Hicks. The song got picked up as the theme song for WildTV’s Season 3 Fall Brawl show.

We asked Rory where he got the inspiration for the creation of this album. As a parent, he noted that his kid doesn’t always want to hear “Twinkle Little Stars.” His son is a fan of country music as well, but some of the music isn’t always age appropriate. So, since country music is what Rory does best, he decided to write a children’s album that was.

“Yee Haw” boasts 12 all original country tracks geared toward children, with one special bonus track for the parents, more specifically new parents. There is also a video on the website to go along with the song.

The Cre8tive Reviews team was lucky enough to get our hands on all 12 tracks of “Yee Haw” and here’s what we think:

K- Rory is a genius. Let’s just get that out-of-the-way. He is extremely talented. Between country music, being a father, publishing books, touring and now finishing this album I wonder where he has the time to do anything, let alone be creative. But, creative he is and the result is a fun, energetic, and unique country album children (and their parents) will surely love. As a mom, I appreciate the fact that the songs are not annoying, they aren’t lyrics on repeat after repeat and they are fun. Even though my son is older than toddler stage, we still enjoyed listening to it together. My personal favorite on the CD is “Baby Steps,” a song geared toward the parents versus the children. This song captures the feelings, moments and excitement of new parenthood perfectly. I have to admit, it’s definitely one that brought tears to my eyes because my son isn’t that little anymore. “Starts with A, Ends with Z”  is a unique take on a classic song that will help your children not only learn, but sing along. I am especially impressed with Rory’s fun side on The “Sing a little higher” song, where each verse, even though it is repeated, s a little higher each time.”I like it, I love it,” is Rory’s catchy version of Tim McGraw’s hit except about ketchup. And really, who doesn’t love ketchup? Rory  has successfully carved out a great little niche for himself. I definitely see this being a huge success for him, not to mention all of the moms out there who are going to go gaga over his dimples and smile.

P- I thinks kids would like Rory Gardiner’s “Yee-Haw.” It would be good for some play time activities at a pre-school or home, and certain parts would make for fun sing along activities. The single “Yee-Haw” is good but not sure if a crying baby is the best beginning of this song. I like the alphabet song, it’s catchy and sure to be a kids favorite. I applaud Rory for venturing in to the kids market. It kinda reminds me of an early episode of something I would hear on Sesame Street when I was a kid mixed with the goofiness and fun attitude of Adam Sandler, but a clean version.  I hope that parents would give this a listen. Its fun and entertainment for kids and it would make learning activities a little bit more fun. Cant wait to hear more from Rory down the road!

We got to meet up with Scotty before the show, and  talked about the experience he had on American Idol.  He said it was definitely an interesting start on Idol, and as the weeks went by he wanted to sing his style of music but Idol wasn’t sure if it was the right for the show. Well, we definitely think it was the right fit for Scotty and his fans from Idol agree and voted him all the way to the win!
We looked out to see all of his 8,000 fans that came to support his music. When he took the stage he did not disappoint them. He started rock’n some classic songs and then some from his current CD “See You Tonight” like “Carolina Eyes”, “The Dash”, “Forget To Forget You” and” Get Gone With Out You.”  These were some of the songs that were a great surprise and his fans enjoyed hearing.
